Stress...

STRESS! A six letter word that everyone hates. This semester my stress level has been extremely high. Stress in my everyday life, work, and with graduate school. I went home a few weeks and got to go to my home church. It never fails, it always seems that Bro. Randy is talking directly to me and this Sunday was no different. Bro Randy is taking Psalm 23 verse by verse and addressing everyday problems that we deal with. Verse 1 was about getting a hold on worrying and verse 2 was on handling stress.
I am going to share my notes from Bro Randy's sermon for myself and others that are having a hard time handling stress.

"He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters" Psalm 23:2

I. The condition of the sheep
We are the sheep is this verse.
1. Sheep are weak animals.
2. Wayward
3. Willful-strong willed.

II. The character of the Shepherd
Jesus is our Shepherd

1. The Lord is a Compassionate shepherd
2. A caring shepherd
3. Courageous Shepherd

III. The Cure for Stress
1. Celebrate God's Presence
2. Appropriate in his power
3. Mediate on God's Promises

One thing that hit home to me is that when the sheep are away from the shepherd they are not totally healthy

When stress starts to take over our life, we need to remember to rely on our Shepherd. It is only when we rely on Jesus that we will be able to handle our stress.

My notes were all scribbles, so I am sure I left out a bunch of important information.

If you are interested in watching the sermon, you can watch it here.

Wedding Weekend in Starkville

This past weekend I attended a the wedding of Janna and Sean in Starkville. The wedding took place at Hewlet Barn. Wow! It was so pretty! The weather was absolutely perfect.

I also got the chance to see friends that I don't see that often!

Michelle, Casey, the Bride (Janna), and myself

Janna's signature drink was delicious, Apple Sangria.  Except I was not a fan of the apple pieces in it.

The chance to kick off my shoes and dance to a Motown Band.

My man and myself.
So thankful Nathan was able to come with me to the wedding! It was great just to get a away from Brandon for a night with this fellow.

Silly picture

OH! They had the best food! Cap't Rodney's dip, fried green tomatoes, tenderloins, fruit, veggies, chicken, and a mashed potato bar.
Love this boy! Darnell HATES to take pictures. :)

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. Wonderful hotel, but I got a nice surprise when I got out of the shower. There was a message on the mirror after it was all fogged up! "Welcome Back Dawgs". I think I let out a tiny scream when I saw it. Definitely not what I was expecting when I got out. :)

Woke up fairly early on Sunday morning. Michelle and I decided to go get Shipley's Doughnuts and Strangebrew Coffee. It was a great time of just chatting and spending time together.
We could not leave Starkville without having Sunday Family Lunch at the Veranda. Man was it good.

Thank you again Nathan for being my date to the wedding! :)

Friday Five...

Happy Friday Everyone!!

I thought this day would NEVER get here!

Linking up again with Joy at the Sowell Life

1. Owl-O-Ween
Love it when my friend Maggie is in town and we get the chance to go to Easely Amused.
I am usually my toughest critic, but in the end I think it turns out cute. I want to spray this one with a sealer/weather protector and hang it on my door.

2. Carving Pumpkins
Had a girls night carving pumpkins this week. You can read more about the adventure here

3. Baby Invite
My sweet friend, Jessica, is having a baby boy in December. Jessica and Cody decided to announce his name on the baby shower invitation. I have been stalking my mailbox for weeks!! The invitation FINALLY arrived yesterday and I love his name: Charleston Grey Bunyard.
Check out Jessica's awesome blog: Busy Life As A Bunyard!Jessica is a TRUE Southern Lady

4. Love it when my friends start blogging
One of my greatest friends, Casey, has started blogging! Take a few minutes  to check out her blog

5. SnapChat
So, it might have taken a few months, but I have finally started snapchatting! Why haven't I done this before. Here are a few of the snapchats I screenshot from this week.

blog help!

I am trying to figure out how to set up my comment feed, so I will be able to reply via blogger and not email. Anyone know how to do this??

Pumpkin carving 101

Last night, a few of us decided to have a girls night and carve pumpkins. I never carve pumpkins growing up. It's a tradition that I love now! I might not be that good at it, but at least I have fun!

Pumpkin precarving- Can you see the end of my power carver?

I got smart this year and invested in a power carver. I hate cutting the designs out. It worked great, but think it would work better with just simple designs.

The part I hate the most is digging the insides out! Just grosses me out!

My finished project. I am sure it will rot in a few days. If you can't tell, it's a cat.

Nikki with her ghost.

Nicole with her face.

Mariah was the only smart one and she decided to paint and bedazzle hers. A much better and cleaner idea. I will add her finished picture when she is done with it.

All of our pumpkins. :)

It was a relaxing and fun night! Can't wait to paint pumpkins with a little girl I am keeping Saturday!

Happy Hump Day!!!

I'm to old for this...

Oh me! I am way to old to spend an entire weekend staying up late and having fun!

This past weekend was Bulldog Bash and State vs. LSU. I decided to spend the weekend in Starkville and relive my college years.

I headed straight to Starkville after work so I could beat the bulldog bash traffic. Once I got into Starkville I picked up a pizza from Stromboli's for dinner. We devoured that pizza in record time. Ha. Once we finished watching the Braves play, we started getting ready to head to Bulldog Bash to hear Chris Young and Black Crowes play. It was crowded and hot and humid. The bands were ok, but we decided to head back and hang out.

The gang!

Saturday morning I started my day off with City Bagel. I love City Bagel, but most of my friends hate it and think it's overpriced. So, I was thankful Rachel liked it too. After breakfast, I got my stuff together for my tailgate. This week I made rotel cups and Jell-O shots and bought cute cookies.

aren't they precious!?!

It ended up being hot and humid before the game. So glad I decided on a cute dress. :)

State played their heart out for the first three quarters but lost steam during the 4th. No matter what I am still True Maroon.

Love this place!

Sunday, we went to the veranda for 'family lunch'. It was so yummy! I can't wait for my next weekend in Starkville. :)
